Regulations for Transporting a Boat
Almost all boats over 26 feet in length are considered oversized loads because the maximum width of a legal sized load in the united states is 8ft-6in wide, and most vessels above 27ft in length have a width at least 9ft.
Below is a guideline for what is required for the move:
Legal Width - 8ft-6in wide - nothing required. Legal Height - 13ft-6in loaded on the trailer. Oversized Permit Required above 8ft-6in Wide. One Pilot car required from 12ft - 14ft wide. Two pilot cars required from 14ft - 15ft wide. Pole Car required when height is above 14ft.


Oversized travel is only allowed from sunrise to one half hour before sunset.
Some states do not allow weekend travel.
All States - No travel the day before or after all major holidays.
